The 2024 Victory Shield competition began today with two very close games layed at the excellent Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld.  In the opening game, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland were involved in a tense battle with the Republic taking the lead in the 72nd minute only to have the lead cancelled four minutes later!  Scotland went on to claim the extra point in the penalty shoot out winning that 4-3.

In the second game the goals flowed freely in the first halfwith Northern Ireland flying into a two goal lead with strikes in the 15th and 21st minutes only to see Cymru back on leve; terms eight minutes later!  NI took the lead just before half time and were looking likely winners until Cymru struck with two minutes remaining.  Cymru went on to win the penalty shoot out 3-1.
