Centenary Shield Competition
1. To qualify for Centenary Shield matches a player should have attained their sixteenth birthday but not their eighteenth birthday before the 1st January at the beginning of the year in which the competition is taking place.
2. In addition, players should be bone fide scholars in full time education** on the roll of a recognised school or college which is affiliated to the association they represent.
(** full time refers to; 190 days of education within a school or a place where the school’s designated curriculum is studied, or study at a recognised college or a place where the college’s designated curriculum is studied, which provides education for 16-18 year olds studying for either A/S levels, Scottish Highers, Ardteistiméireacht, A levels, Advanced Highers, International or National Baccalaureates, Leaving Certificate Applied or for vocational qualifications which require a minimum of 17 hours of study per week and for which no paid work placement is required.)
3. A player who has a signed contract of employment with a club registered with a national football association and receives payment in excess of necessary hotel and travel expenses is ineligible to play in the Centenary Shield competition.
