The Republic of Ireland gained the upper hand against the Scots with a well taken goal in the third minute today at Ruthin FC. Mohammed Oladiti provided the final touch to open his account. Both teams are to be credited for their efforts in abissmal conditions which did nothing to help the playing surface for the lads. Ireland took the points but the plaudits are shared by both teams.
The second game was fortunate enough to miss the downpours of earlier in the day and Northern Ireland took the initiative in the 16th minute when George Feeney fired home to take a deserved lead. The game looked to be heading for a single goal victory but the Welsh lads persevered to the end and were rewarded with an equaiser from Patrick Mlynarski with 4 minutes to go. The ding dong battle ensured for another 10 mijutes though as both sets of players sensed a victory was close. It didn't come, game drawn 1-1.
