Great Day of football
News Date 04/04/2023
4th April 2023 will go down as one of the great days in girls school football.  Two game at Renfrew enabled to young players to show off their developing skills.  In the first, Scotland beat Northern Ireland.  Jessica Husband put the Sots in the lead after 2 minutes and Amy Sharkey fired home from the penalty spot after 25 mins.  The Northern Ireland girls battled bravely to breach the Scottish defence but without success.
In the second game for the John Read Trophy between England and Republic of Ireland a cracking game of football took place, possibly the best ever in this tournament.  The Irish took the lead just after half time through Madison McGuane but this was pegged back when Bryony Brodie snatched an equaliser for England.  No further score meant penalties and five each was not enough-  four all after the first five saw the sudden death phase kick in which resulted in an England win after 14 kicks.  Not one penalty was missed but Ella Stowell was England's heroine by saving two with Laura Fanning keeping out one for the Republic.
Undoubtedly one of the best games ever at the Bob Doc.
